The Wu girl is getting a new addition to her home, but this time it won't be in her closet.

Jason Wu, who has been expanding into the shelter sphere—he recently designed a capsule collection of furniture and home goods for Canvas—has partnered with Nest Fragrances on his new Orchid Rain candle.

It may not be wearable, but the candle is the perfect piece to summer-ify your apartment, adding a little Wu whimsy to your digs.

The designer made a personal appearance at Bergdorf Goodman’s New York flagship store on Fifth Avenue this Thursday to sign candles and he took a moment to talk to FashionEtc about designing the candle.

How did you get into home decor?

I just really like it as a pastime and I actually met Laura (Laura Slatkin, the founder and CEO of Nest Fragrances) by chance. I'm such a fan of the Nest fragrances and I started buying them, at Bergdorf's actually, and she found out I was a fan and we decided to collaborate. It felt really natural because I'm such a heavy candle user.  I have candles all over my studio.

Ever have any fires?

No I am very responsible with my candles.

What was your inspiration behind the candle design and scent?

My inspiration was originally from the floral, orchid pattern in my Spring 2012 collection. We started with the orchid fragrance—which most people don't know have a scent but there is a specific type of orchid that does—and then we injected wood and leather scents. It's a little unusual and has a unisex quality to it. It smells like spring which is what we want. I can imagine all the Wu girls wearing the scent and enjoying the candle.

What does your summer look like?

I've kicked off Spring already and I've just finished showing resort. That's my summer... working on Spring. But I am taking a trip to Turks & Caicos.

The fresh summer scented Wu candle is available at Bergdorf Goodman.
