Christopher Kane Launches J Brand Jeans at Barneys

There’s nothing like a little fluorescence to wake a person up—a fact neon-loving Christopher Kane knows well.

On November 10, the designer joined J Brand Jeans founder Jeff Rudes on the newly-renovated Co-op floor of Barneys New York to introduce his brand-new collaboration with the It denim brand—which, true to form, consists of plenty of hot pink, orange, and lime green.

“I’ve always been known for neons,” Kane said over breakfast. “I wanted people to sit up and pay attention—they really arrest you! I love neon. It’s part of my DNA now.”

The collection includes skinny jeans in the aforementioned brights—and for the slightly less bold, they also come in white, black, a dark indigo wash and a classic blue rinse—a frayed hem flare, Bermuda shorts, cutoffs, and jean jackets.

“Everyone wears jeans,” Kane said. “I think it’s one of the most used fabrics in existence. It can be really low end, really high end … it’s something I’ll continue to work with.”
