Fans of Jonathan Adler's cheeky home decor, rejoice: it's time to leave the pillows on your Hollywood Regency chaise lounge, at home where they belong. Now you can take the designer's gleefully eccentric aesthetic on-the-go with his new line of handbags. The purses—available this month online and at Jonathan Adler stores—are a natural extension from interior design to toteable style.

“We’ve always had a lot of fashion customers come into my stores and say that a pillow or vase design would make a great accessory,” the FiFi Winner told Women's Wear Daily. (We concur: have you seen his ode to Linda Evangelista?)

Of course, this isn't Adler's maiden voyage into fashion design. The husband to Barneys' man-about-town, Simon Doonan, took a swipe at handbags years ago, but he felt the design didn't quite mesh with his clientele. "They were a bit too formal and too pricey,” he explains. “My customer is a little bit more bohemian and eccentric.” Adler also collaborated with Lacoste last year on a capsule collection of polos, and his line of men's neckwear hits stores this summer.

Adler will fete the handbag launch next month at his and Doonan's home. No word on the cuisine, but you might want to leave your cleanses—and your basic black bags—at home.
