Ooh la la! ModelWalk.com will set up private couture appointments for you in Paris.
Couture pieces can cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, and take countless hours to construct—so who knew they could be just a click away?
That’s right: couture is coming to e-commerce through a new members-only Web site called ModeWalk.
Of course, since each item is custom-made, the process is a little trickier than “select size” and “enter credit card number”: With each order, ModeWalk books private appointments for its customers at couture salons in Paris.
According to Vogue, Beatrice Pang and Henri Deshays started the site after noticing an increase in big-ticket online purchases. Their destination for all things high end offers the couture experience from the likes of Alexandre Vauthier, Martin Grant, and On Aura Tout Vu, and showcases jewelry, handbags, and fragrance in addition to the clothing.
“Every time I travel to Paris, I stumble across a boutique, designer, or storefront that takes my breath away,” Indre Rockefeller, the site’s fashion director, told Vogue.com. “I realized we could re-create that experience.”
