Pantone Color of the Year 2013: Emerald
Emerald 2013's Color of the Year
Take a hike down the yellow brick road Tangerine, there's a new color in town, and it looks a little more like Emerald City.
Pantone has decreed that the Color of the Year for 2013 will be Emerald, described as a lively, radiant, lush green.
Following a selection of warmer shades, Tangerine in 2012 and Honeysuckle in 2011, the Emerald shade is similar to 2010's luminous turquoise.
"The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color...This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
The hue popped up on Spring 2013 runways, from Vera Wang and Burberry to Tracy Reese and Nanette Lepore, and will surely be featured in the upcoming Fall 2013 collections.
The new green glow will also be showcased in a limited-edition Sephora beauty range inspired by its Color of the Year.
