Although he was just confirmed as Balenciaga's creative director yesterday, Alexander Wang's first collection for the French fashion house is literally right around the corner. Wang will be designing the Fall 2013-14 line during Paris Fashion Week this February, so the New York-based designer didn't waste any time getting inspiration.

'"Immediately,' he said: 'I want to see the archives. I want to understand the culture behind the brand,'" Balenciaga CEO Isabelle Guichot told Women's Wear Daily. "He could have slept there almost."

"We wanted someone with global thinking, a citizen of the world, and someone who could understand the digital world and the direction of fashion and retail tomorrow," Guichot told WWD. "It will be a new vision; a new understanding of the brand. The heritage of Balenciaga is so big. Just a part of it has been exploited, but obviously not all of it."

In order to get a full understanding of the storied French brand, Alexander Wang will be a constant jet-setter, dividing his time between New York and Paris. "Designers are now nomadic people; he will be one of those nomads," said Guichot.
