Nicole Richie Talks Music Inspiration for Macy’s Impulse Collection

Full sharing capability

We've already seen sketches and colorful campaign shots, but Richie has revealed even more inside style scoop on her soon-to-hit stores Macy's Impulse range with a video sharing the inspiration behind the lower-priced line.

Hitting stores in mid September, the capsule collection features dresses and separates all under $150, with plenty of floaty floral prints and sleek separates to satisfy your affordable shopping sweet tooth.

With Lionel Richie as her dad, it's no wonder the reality-star-turned-fashion-designer credits music as her biggest design inspiration. "It takes me to another place and I'm able to escape," the pint-sized designer says in the video above.

Richie, who listens to a wide range of music from Florence and the Machine to Rihanna, says she is especially drawn to '60s and '70s tunes.

Blending a masculine and feminine aesthetic, with a heavy dose of mixing prints, Richie's clothes reflect the 60s and 70s look of boho-chic that defines her own signature style. Faux leather is paired with lace and chiffon for a look that is both edgy and feminine, the essence of Richie's idea of the modern woman.

Shop the hippie-chic looks at Macy’s and on Macys.com starting September 12th!
