The prospect of a Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Lily Cole, Georgia May Jagger, and Stella Tennant appearance at the Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony is pretty darn exciting, but it looks like five other British babes will be the ones to steal the show.
In a radio interview on July 19, Victoria Beckham revealed that she and her fellow former Spice Girls will be reuniting for a performance at the London 2012 Summer Games Closing Ceremony on August 12, according to the Daily Mail.
"I’m so respectful of my past and I love the other girls," the designer told RTE Radio. "We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more. I don’t know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we’ll see. If they’re up for something then I certainly am. We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics."
There you have it! The ladies, who recently teamed up to promote their upcoming West End musical, were reportedly approached about performing two years ago, with sources saying that Beckham was wary about revisiting her pop star roots.
"They would have a few weeks to rehearse," a source told the Daily Mail at the time. "This is a serious proposition, Mel B. has been bombarding Victoria with calls—she’s the sticking point. All the other girls want to do it. Victoria is extremely reluctant."
Apparently, that's no longer the case. Like the other Closing Ceremony performers, the Spice Girls will be paid a token £1 for their participation. Good thing Posh has got those designer freebies!
Rumor has it that Geri Halliwell will be donning Ginger Spice's signature Union Jack dress. Bet they regret auctioning off those old costumes now!
