Neiman Marcus, Target Joining Forces for CFDA-Designed Holiday Collection
Looks like we fashion folks have landed on Santa's nice list this year. How else to explain the highly unexpected but totally welcome collaboration between Neiman Marcus and Target for the 2012 holiday season?
Bridging the gap between luxury and masstige fashion, the two retailers are joining forces for a limited-edition Holiday 2012 collection featuring pieces from 24 CFDA designers, including Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera, Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta, Eddie Borgo, and more, Women's Wear Daily reports.
The Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection will be sold via both retailers' stores and websites beginning December 1, with designs ranging from just $7.99 to $499.99.

Participants like Rodarte, Alice + Olivia, Band of Outsiders, Rag & Bone, Tracy Reese, Thom Browne, Judith Leiber, Marchesa, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Lela Rose, Brian Atwood, Robert Rodriguez, Skaist-Taylor, and Philip Crangi each designed one to three pieces for the collection, which includes not just fashion but also gifts and items for pets, the home, electronics, and sporting goods.
“We have been talking to Target over the years about doing some sort of collaboration, but we never found the right time or right way to do it,” Karen Katz, president and chief executive officer of Neiman Marcus Inc. tells WWD. “This is kind of ground-breaking. Neiman Marcus and Target share a passion for great design and delighting customers in new and unexpected ways.”

"I can think of no better finale to CFDA’s 50th anniversary celebration than through this extraordinary designer collaboration,” adds von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA, which has received a $1 million donation from Target and Neiman Marcus. “As designers, creativity is our best gift, and with the generous support of Neiman Marcus and Target, we are happy to have created specially designed products as a thank you to share with our consumers and friends.”
How sweet. Think she'll mind if we add ourselves to our holiday gift list?
