Valentino hard at work designing the ballet costumes.

Fashion's love affair with ballet shows no signs of ending anytime soon.

Let's recap: post-Black Swan, the Rodarte sisters created costumes for the New York City Ballet gala. Then, Stella McCartney teamed up with pater Paul on the original production "Ocean's Kingdom," at the New York City Ballet. Not to mention that fashionable balletomanes like Natalie Portman and Drew Barrymore keep flocking to the latest dance premieres.

The latest in fashion/ballet fusion? This fall, Valentino (the man) will design costumes for three Peter Martins-choreographed ballets at the New York City Ballet's Fall 2012 gala.

In a nod to the designer's signature shade, the company will also perform George Balanchine's "Rubies."

The event, which takes place on September 20 at NYC's Lincoln Center, will be co-hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker, Giancarlo Giammetti, Maria Bartiromo and Pamela J. Joyner.
