Johnny Depp and Rei Kawakubo Will Be AWOL For the CFDA's

If you were planning on playing stage-door Johnny outside Lincoln Center on Monday night to meet Jack Sparrow in the flesh, we've got some bad news for you.
Women's Wear Daily reports that Depp—this year's CFDA Style Icon honoree—will be a no-show at the festivities. Perhaps he can send French Johnny Depp in his stead?
Also missing from the fray: Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawabubo, who is set to receive the International Award. This is not terribly surprising, as Kawakubo is known to be something of a recluse, but the avant-garde design geeks in the audience will certainly be disappointed to miss her.
Oddly enough, John Waters will be picking up the awards for both no-shows. A CFDA rep told the newspaper that this was a "complete coincidence," as both Depp and Kawakubo separately requested that Waters play Sacheen Littlefeather for them at the ceremony. Of course, Depp worked with the director on the modern classic Cry-Baby, but we're a little murkier on Kawakubo's relationship to Baltimore's finest. Perhaps she's a major Serial Mom fanatic?
