Speaking of Opening Ceremonies

After putting Scarlett Johansson front and center for Vogue’s May issue, the magazine is taking a sporty turn for June, inspired by the upcoming London Olympics.

Soccer player Hope Solo, tennis player Serena Williams, and swimmer Ryan Lochte—the fourth man to ever grace the cover of the glossy—scored spots on the cover, plus show-stopping spreads that show off their incredibly athletic bodies. Inside, more impressive Olympians, including gymnast Alexandra Raisman and decathlete Ashton Eaton, get their moments in the spotlight, in spreads shot by Annie Leibovitz and Bruce Weber.

American decathlete Ashton Eaton clears the hurdle, along with Karlie Kloss.

Fashion devotees needn’t worry that Vogue has passed on the glamour this time around, though: posing alongside the athletes is Karlie Kloss, who wears a series of stunning gowns.

The June issue of Vogue hits newsstands on May 22.
