Last week, sale website 1stdibs.com put a selection of Cunningham’s hats for sale, and the 23 toppers sold out (through vintage dealer Katy Kane) in a record 10 minutes, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
Prospective buyers may be sorry to have been scooped, but the buyer—anonymous for now, but said to be an arts patron and a friend of Cunningham’s—is reportedly planning on donating the $20,000 haul to a New York City museum, where they may be enjoyed by all.
