And another one bites the dust ...

After just a year helming the design team at Pringle of Scotland, Alistair Carr is parting ways with the brand favored by actress Tilda Swinton, Women's Wear Daily reports.

According to CEO Jean Fang, it was a "mutual decision" to sever the relationship with Carr, who took over as design director in March 2011 following Clare Waight Keller's departure to Chloé. The company's in-house team will now be solely responsible for design.

"I want to thank Alistair for all his great efforts and contributions at Pringle," Fang, whose family owns the U.K. label. "We will miss him, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Though Carr will continue to oversee the label's Fall 2012 ad campaign and present his Spring 2013 menswear and Resort 2013 collections this June, Fang says the brand is transitioning towards more intimate presentations rather than full-sale runway shows.

Citing the success of Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou's capsule collection of luxury basics for the brand, Fang also reveals that Pringle will focus on its core, knitwear-heavy products while expanding via smaller retail outlets.

Carr's final days will be spent wrapping up his final collections as well as his work on Pringle's "Princess Grace: More Than an Image" exhibit in Monaco. Still, with a fashion pedigree that includes stints at Balenciaga, Chloé, Marni, and Cacharel and a reputation for delivering forward-thinking knitwear, we can't help but think that he won't be unemployed for long.
