Atelier Versace is Puttin’ On the Ritz

A Versace Spring 2012 Couture look.

For the "civilians" among us, July 4th weekend means barbeques and beer. But for us fashion folks, it means the polar opposite: the biannual luxury-fest that is haute couture. (Not that we're knocking barbeques and beer. Both have their place in our lives as well.)

The Telegraph reports that Atelier Versace is headed back to the runway after eight years of Couture Week presentations. And the venue? None other than the Hotel Ritz in Paris, which has a history with the Italian house: it was the site of many memorable shows in the '90's, when Gianni Versace was at the helm. The show will take place July 1 in the hotel's Salon Vendôme, marking one of the last events at the fashion hot spot before it closes for a two-year-long renovation at the end of July.

"It is with tremendous emotion that I return to the Ritz where I shared so many special moments with my brother," Versace said of the upcoming show. "The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one, so to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone."

Just another reason we can't wait until July. Wonder if house fans Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga will make an appearance?
