Frida Giannini and Gucci Take Shanghai
There’s something about Shanghai.
Louis Vuitton will stage a complete recreation of its Fall 2012 runway show—LV locomotive and all!—in the metropolis in late July, while Dior presented its most recent couture collection there this past weekend. Now, Gucci’s the latest to head East.
Designer Frida Giannini will host three events in the Chinese city this Saturday, April 21. The first, a cocktail event, will unveil the brand’s latest ad campaign, starring Chinese actress Li Bing Bing, after which a full-scale fashion show will take place in the historic Wai Tan Yuan area—with the likes of Hilary Swank, Lapo Elkann, and more sitting front row.

An after-party will naturally follow, at the Gucci Club—a three-floor location created specially for the event—which will display an exhibition of Gucci Première evening gowns (including Swank’s stunning silver 2011 Oscars ensemble). Bryan Ferry will perform, and then, we suspect, the party will carry on into the wee hours. If there was ever a time to break out your best flapper-wear from the house's Spring 2012 collection, this would be it!
