Tavi Gevinson to Sing at New York Fashion Week Party
She may have first gotten the attention of the fashion world in 2008 with her charming rap tribute to Rei Kawakubo, but looks like the now-15-year-old (where does the time go?) Tavi Gevinson has some serious pipes.
The blogging wunderkind has lent her voice to a seven-minute animated film called Cadaver, which also features the voices of Christopher Lloyd and Kathy Bates. In addition to her acting debut, Gevinson also sings in the film, recording a cover of Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold.”
You can hear an excerpt of Gevinson’s cover in the short’s trailer—but for those who prefer their entertainment live, you’re in luck: The Hollywood Reporter reports that Gevinson will sing the Neil Young song at a New York Fashion Week event at the Standard on February 12. The performance is at 12:30 a.m. (what, no curfew?).
Wonder if Rei might show up to lend her support?
