Tavi’s ‘Diary’ to Hit Bookshelves
Talk about a mini mogul.
Tavi Gevinson, the 15-year-old blogging sensation, is reportedly meeting with publishers in New York next week to discuss Diary, her forthcoming book.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Tavi recently hatched the idea with author Marisa Meltzer at a sleepover (where else?) in Chicago, home of the young front-row fixture.
The proposal indicates that the book will be “one part make-your-own scrapbook, one part feminist manifesto for girls and one part celebrity memento collage”—which, naturally, will draw from Gevinson’s famous friends, like Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte and filmmaker Miranda July.
“The core audience I do think is teens to early twentysomethings, but I really do think it will have a significant audience in the twenty- or thirtysomething young women demographic in the fashion world,” Melissa Flashman, who is representing the book, told WWD. “The soonest this could come out would probably be a year from now, but it might be longer.”
Between making appearances at Marni parties in Los Angeles, pitching books to publishers in New York, and preparing for her sophomore year in high school, Tavi seems to have a lot on her plate. She’s contributed to Jane Pratt’s new site, xojane.com, and is still working on a separate magazine and online project with Pratt, slated to launch in September.
