Red Valentino’s Spring 2012 Ad Campaign
The Year of the Dragon is already off to one fashionable start!
For its Spring 2012 ad campaign, Red Valentino enlisted model Nimue Smit to pose alongside a towering dragon statue flanked by stone lions.
Does Jil Sander have some competition in the spooky campaign stakes?
Last seen shooting Mulberry's girlish beach romp, photographer Tim Walker switches gears with the mythical-themed ads, shot in Italy's Garden of Bomarzo—a wooded area dating back to 1522 and known as the "Park of the Monsters" thanks to its beastly sculptures.
Decked out in a bright yellow sundress, cream accessories, and a retro pompadour, Smit adds a bright note to the otherwise gloomy and ominous surroundings. Eat your heart out, Little Red Riding Hood.
"A fantastic set and a location ... remind the atmosphere of a magical and enchanted forest, where the heroines move to discover a dreamlike and imaginary world, as in a pop-up book," Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo Piccioli explain in a press statement.
Though inspired by "the dark side of a fable," Grazia and Piccioli assure us that this story has a happy ending.
Well, yeah ... just look at those killer shoes!
