A vintage Diamond Birkin has fetched $203,150 at a Texas auction on December 6, setting a world record for the highest price paid for a handbag at an auction, the Houston Chronicle reports.
A spokesman for Dallas' Heritage Auctions confirmed that an anonymous collector made the winning bid for the luxury bag, which features red crocodile skin, 18-karat white gold, and diamond-encrusted hardware.
The bold color, diamond accents, and mint condition are thought to have increased the bag's value. And hey, you know how they like to do things big down in Texas ...
