Riccardo Tisci’s fate at Givenchy is still up in the air (who knows anymore what’s happening over at Dior?), but his house will be taking a hit: Andrew Heather, Tisci’s second in command, has been named the creative director at Revillon.

The luxury fur house has had an empty top spot since 2009, when then-creative director Peter Dundas jumped ship for Pucci. Rick Owens helmed the house prior to Dundas.

“I think also there’s a lot to be said for the saying, ‘Quit while you’re ahead,’” Heather told Women’s Wear Daily of his move from Givenchy. “What a ride, those last [Givenchy] couture collections were insanely beautiful. It was a combination of a lot of things, but one of them was, where am I going from here? Come on, jump.”

Though the brand’s heritage is in furs, Heather said that his plan for the line is to make it more accessible by mixing furs with other fabrics.

“I hate the idea of doing 20 really full-on fur coats that only 20 people can afford in the world and that end up sitting in a press office or a cupboard,” he said. “That’s not what it’s about.”

Heather’s first collection for the line will be shown during Paris Fashion Week in March.

In related news, one California city is considering a ban on all fur sales.
