Making strides: Express is trying to break the Guinness World Record for most people to walk a runway.
Calling all model hopefuls! If your dream is to strut down the catwalk—and you don’t mind breaking a world record while doing it—this may be just the gig for you.
Express will attempt to break the Guinness World Record title for most people to hit the runway on July 23 with an all-day extravaganza in Times Square, NYC.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., wannabe walkers can drop by and receive an Express T-shirt (with the slogan “I was a model for a minute”), enter for a chance to win a $250 Express gift card, and get a photo of themselves channeling their inner Naomi.
Of course, a representative from Guinness World Records will be on site to talley the catwalkers; the current world record is 521.
The event isn’t all fun and games, though. Following the possibly record-breaking runway event, Express will stage a runway show—this time, using professional models—to showcase its Holiday 2011 collection. The presentation will be open to the public, but those not in New York will be able to tune in as well: The show will stream live at 9 p.m. on express.com.
