It’s official: Tom Ford will show his Spring 2012 collection during London Fashion Week.

Tom Ford’s return to womenswear has been marked with one trait above all: secrecy.

At his debut showing in New York for Spring 2011, only a handful of editors were invited and photos were strictly forbidden.

For his second collection, he scratched the show altogether, opting instead for personal appointments in London—and again, no pictures.

Now comes news that Ford will once again take his collection across the pond—and this time, the presentation is on the official London Fashion Week Spring 2012 schedule provided by the British Fashion Council. Does this mean he’s kicked the uber-exclusivity to the curb?

We wouldn’t count on it.

He may be on the official LFW schedule, but he’s not showing at any of the week’s usual venues. The schedule only indicates that his presentation, which will take place on Sunday, September 18, at 6 p.m., will be set in SW1, which refers to an area of central London, north of the Thames.

While most London Fashion Week designers’ pages on the LFW site list press contacts, Ford’s offers nothing, only saying “Women's presentation by invitation only.”

It’s likely that Ford’s on the official schedule only because cooperating with the BFC made scheduling easier for editors (although we can’t imagine it will be easy to get from Ford’s showing to Matthew Williamson’s, which will take place at 7:15 across town).

As for his super-secret photo policy this time around: We’ll have to wait and see, but chances are the feeling is, if it ain’t broke …
