Their super-soft knits stock the closets of many a tree-lover, but Ella Moss and Splendid are planning to expand into a different category: footwear.

The brands, which are both owned by VF Corporation, just announced that they have entered into a licensing partnership with New York Transit, Inc., which will produce shoe collections for both Splendid and Ella Moss. (While Splendid created a small collection of shoes for Spring 2011, this will be the first with the new partner—and the first-ever footwear foray for Ella Moss.)

“With Splendid and Ella Moss continuing to experience tremendous success in the apparel category, adding footwear is a natural progression as both expand into global lifestyle brands,” says Jonathan Saven, president of both brands, in a statement.

The Splendid collection, which is slated to have its first delivery for Spring 2012, will consist of over 50 styles, like sandals, wedges, and more casual styles, will range in price from $79 to $129. The Ella Moss footwear collection, meanwhile, will deliver for Fall 2012, retail for between $129 and $250, and include boots, heels, and casual shoes. Both collections will be available on their respective Web sites as well as at department stores and specialty boutiques worldwide.
