Raising the bar: Designer Sakina M’sa showed her collection in this French prison.
We’ve been to runway shows in tents, in warehouses, in galleries, in restaurants, in gardens—however, we’ve yet to attend one in a prison. But, hey, why not?
Women’s Wear Daily reports that French designer Sakina M’sa recently did just that, showcasing her (of all things) couture collection at a women’s prison in Fleury-Merogis, a town in the southern suburbs of Paris. M’sa reportedly tapped 30 inmates as models—oh, to be a fly on the wall at that casting—and presented a runway show in front of 90 fellow prisoners.
In addition to her behind-bars show, M’sa will be presenting her next couture collection in July (during couture week in Paris), though the location has not been decided. May we suggest a courthouse?
