Kanye West Launching High-End Fashion Line?
He’s pals with Phillip Lim, he's designed scarves for M/M Paris, and he's created shoes for Louis Vuitton—but he’s not nearly done yet.
In news that may surprise, um, no one, the Telegraph is reporting that rapper-cum-fashion obsessive Kanye West has taken a studio in Paris and is hard at work designing a high-end clothing collection for men and women.
Though rumors swirled earlier this year that West might enroll in London’s famed fashion school Central Saint Martins, the star reportedly isn’t going back to school—though he has befriended CSM's influential professor Louise Wilson, who may have a say in his forthcoming project.
The Telegraph speculates that West might show his collection as soon as this September, during the Spring 2012 season, though no city is specified.
On June 6, West will present Celine designer Pheobe Philo with her International Award at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards—we expect, if these collection rumors are true, that he might be planning a bit of networking as well.
