May 2 was certainly a good day to do a little window shopping in Manhattan.
Passersby were treated to a high-fashion peep show of sorts as Daphne Guinness made good on her promise to turn a Barneys New York window display into her dressing room.
As part of her six-week installation with the department store, the fashion muse changed into a lilac duck-and-ostrich-feather Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 gown ahead of the 2011 Met Institute Costume Gala honoring the label's late namesake designer.

In a staged display that was live streamed on Barneys New York's The Window blog, the platinum-and-black-haired Guinness posed in a crystal-accented nude and black catsuit before moving behind an artfully lit scrim to change into her gown in "private," aided by a female assistant in a sparkling black catsuit of her own.
After a few more adjustments and graceful moves, Guinness emerged from the store to a round of applause before hopping into a white convertible to transport her to the gala.
"Thank you, all of you," she later tweeted. "I was so nervous, it brought all the memories back and it was almost too much. XXX"
Guinness, who is displaying ensembles from her wardrobe as well as pieces from the late Isabella Blow's treasured collection, sported winged eyeliner, sapphire-hued nails, and silver platform mary janes for the big night.
Surely Alexander McQueen would approve.
