No need to adjust those TV screens: the gowns at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards really were that bright.
A standout selection of intense jewel tones helped break up the evening's overwhelmingly neutral, wedding-worthy dress theme while giving Roy G. Biv a much-needed shoutout.
Having opted for a navy Jason Wu number at the Golden Globes, Michelle Williams decided to crank up the color with her lacy ruby-hued Valentino, which offered a glimpse of her matching strappy heels and painted toenails (we hear she's a fan of Tom Ford's polishes). Fred Leighton jewelry, a box clutch, and soft makeup completed the head-turning look.
Kyra Sedwick also rode the crimson tide, looking divine in a scarlet Pucci gown with daring cutouts that showed off a) her killer figure and b) a tattoo that she shares with husband Kevin Bacon and their two (grown) children.
Representing Team Emerald, Emily Blunt was a knockout in her Oscar de la Renta gown with a bow shoulder detail and sexy slit, while Bridesmaids star Ellie Kemper shimmered in a sequined Lorena Sarbu creation.
Dianna Agron continued her color-saturated streak with a raspberry Carolina Herrera with soft ruffles, which she paired with purple Jimmy Choo heels, Fred Leighton jewelry, a Ferragamo bag, and a gorgeous braided updo.

Sofia Vergara, Jessica Chastain, Julie Bowen and Diane Lane.
Modern Family's leading ladies both opted for bold and brilliant designs. While Sofia Vergara gave Marilyn Monroe a run for her money in a curve-hugging hot pink Marchesa gown with a pleated bodice (accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry), Julie Bowen donned a vintage-inspired purple silk Temperley London number paired with a Martin Katz miniaudiere.
Diane Lane and Penelope Ann Miller rocked vivid blue David Meister dresses, the former in a one-shoulder hammered satin teal design and the latter in a brighter embroidered tulle creation fittingly paired with sapphires and diamonds from Blue Nile.
Wearing custom Calvin Klein Collection, Jessica Chastain offered yet another bolt of blue with her azure silk crepe bustier dress.
Nothing like a little rainbow bright to keep things fresh!
