Nicki Minaj Wants a Clothing Line
She’s already got a nail polish line for OPI and a makeup deal with MAC, but it’s Nicki Minaj’s over-the-top fashion sense that she really wants to impart on the masses.
The "Super Bass" singer’s manager, Cortez Bryant, told the New York Times that a “priority” for the performer is to “negotiate a deal with a fashion house so Ms. Minaj can sell her own line of clothes.”
According to John Demsey, the Estée Lauder president who worked with Minaj on her MAC collection, she used to create those eye-popping costumes herself in her basement.
Now, she’s regularly seen sporting ensembles from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Oscar de la Renta and Versace. (Minaj also performed at the Versace for H&M blowout party this past November.)
Since the singer reportedly doesn’t have a stylist (though she does employ a full-time wigmaker!), it’s likely that if Minaj’s designing dreams come true, it will be a solo act rather than a Lady Gaga/Nicola Formichetti-esque affair.
Pom-pom dresses? Palm tree coifs? Plenty of bubblegum pink?
We’re not sure exactly what to expect, but definitely hope she receives an offer from a fashion house ... soon!
