Black tie optional: Emmy Rossum gives the tux a feminine twist in the new issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.
Between Kate Bosworth's BlackBook cover and Emmy Rossum's new shoot for the Favorite Things Issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, we think it's safe to say that tuxedos are having a moment right now.
Photographed by Chris Craymer, the Shameless actress stars in an eight-page fashion spread devoted to transforming the tux into a holiday party style staple.
Calling the menswear-inspired outfit "a softer, more contemporary version of the Katharine Hepburn look," Rossum experiments with glittery palazzo pants as well as an all-white satin suit from Yves Saint Laurent.
“Le Smoking is the epitome of cool," she says of the look. "It says, I’m confident in my body. I don’t need to wear sequins to be sexy—I’m gonna wear a white YSL power tuxedo and look awesome.”
Not that the brunette beauty has anything against sequins.
“I love sparkle; I really do," she insists. "And I love big hair. I should be from Texas.”
And while the tux is the star of the show, Rossum does go girlie in one whimsical shot. Sporting retro waves and a lace-trimmed cocktail dress paired with a "youthful and pretty" bow tie, the Elie Tahari collaborator poses amongst a mouthwatering array of macaroons. Sounds like our kind of soiree!
