Anne Hathaway Covers Marie Claire U.K., Talks Falling in Love and Turning 30
Marie Claire U.K. readers are getting the star treatment in more ways than one this month.
The magazine's September issue is absolutely stellar thanks to a shot of cover girl Anne Hathaway in Dolce & Gabbana's star-splashed dress. (British Vogue's September cover also features a starry design from the Italian duo.)
Photographed by lensman Mark Abrahams, the One Day star poses in a lace Valentino gown (below) for the inside spread.
The issue also sees the Oscar-nominated actress opening up about perfecting a British accent for her latest role ("I was very nervous," she admits) as well as overcoming a rocky romance with ex Raffaelo Follieri (who was imprisoned for fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering) to find love with new boyfriend Adam Shulman.
"People deal with horrible things all the time," she says of Follieri's deception. "Downstairs in this pub someone has a parent who is battling cancer. Someone has just lost their job. Life is really f----d up and it's really painful sometimes."
For now, though, things seem to be pretty idyllic, at least in the romance department.
"Yes, I have a boyfriend," Hathaway says. "And yes, I am very much in love with him. But you do need to keep your private life private. Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time and then I fell in love like a fool!"
Similar to Kirsten Dunst in Elle U.K., the 29-year-old brunette is also getting philosophical about turning the big 3-0.
"I think it's the beginning of a process that really blossoms when you hit 30," she tells the magazine. "It's when you stop apologizing for who you are. It's nice not to know things and that's OK. People aren't going to judge you for asking questions. That's such a freedom."
