Jennifer Lopez’s Wardrobe: ‘Too Sexy’ for Marc Anthony?
Did a clash over clothes contribute to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's marital split?
Though the singers' fashion collaboration with Kohl's still has the green light, sources are dishing that the former couple didn't see eye to eye on Lopez's personal wardrobe choices, Us Weekly reports.
When the pair did a photo shoot with the magazine last year, Anthony allegedly balked at an image that he found "too sexy and unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two," insiders claim.
"He would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something sexy," another source alleges. "He likes her to dress in a demure, 'wife' style. He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol."
So, no more slit-to-there Versace gowns then? While Lopez has arguably covered up a bit more (think maxidresses, blousy tunics, and jumpsuits) since tying the knot with Anthony seven years ago—not unheard of for a woman who has given birth to twins—she's hardly shied away from her sex symbol status.
Indeed, the pop star rocked a curve-hugging jumpsuit and a fringed bodysuit while performing with her husband on American Idol, and nobody could accuse the thigh-high Stuart Weitzman Rockstar boots and corset-style minidress worn for a June concert of being "demure."
Still, the reports suggest that outfits like the cut-out Emilio Pucci gown she wore to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the BAFTA Brits to Watch event (sans Anthony) days before announcing the split could have been the final nail in the marriage's coffin ... or perhaps a way for Lopez to assert her independence.
"Marc has always been a very dominating husband," a third source tells the magazine. "He wants to control everything Jennifer does."
Here's hoping she gets custody of the closet!
