Louis Vuitton Fragrance Confirmed
It's official: Louis Vuitton will indeed jump into the fragrance category following the hiring of award-winning master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, Women's Wear Daily reports.
Following earlier reports that the luxury label was ready to launch its own scent—three fragrances were discontinued in the 1920s and '30s—Vuitton has confirmed Cavallier-Belletrud's hiring, with plans to market the fragrance exclusively in its 461 boutiques around the world.
The fragrance's name, launch date, and concept have not yet been determined, with insiders saying that the new perfumer would no doubt need time to travel the world in search of the perfect notes.
"Making perfume is a magnificent journey, which starts with the quality of the base ingredients,” says Cavallier-Belletrud, who already has popular scents like Dior Addict and Stella by Stella McCartney to his credit.
While we wonder if it's possible for the brand to whip up a fragrance that's as sugary-sweet as the Spring 2012 collection, we do know this: We're totally gunning for Kate Moss, who closed the show, to star in the ads.
Meanwhile, find out why Louis Vuitton has an issue with The Hangover.
