Gucci is likely one of the first names that comes to mind when you think of long-standing fashion houses. The recognizable double G’s have symbolized luxury and style since it was founded in Florence by Guccio Gucci in 1921. Now a new book, written by Aldo Gucci’s love chile, Patricia Gucci, takes us behind the scenes of the Gucci family and their fashion empire.
In the Name of Gucci is Patricia Gucci’s tribute to her father, Aldo Gucci – the son of Guccio. A gag order Ms. Gucci signed 10 years ago when the company was sold to Investcorp is now over and she is free to share the much anticipated story.
“I wanted Aldo Gucci—he may be dead, it may be 27 years ago—to always be recognized, just like Coco Chanel was recognized for Chanel. Aldo Gucci was the man behind this name, who brought it to America, who made the Made in Italy phenomenon.” Ms. Gucci told Vogue during an exclusive interview.
