Just what we needed: another excuse to sit on our couch and online shop!
Harper's Bazaar is set to rival the likes of Net-a-Porter and Shopbop with its latest venture, an e-commerce platform called ShopBazaar, WomenÃs Wear Daily reports.
Launching today, ShopBazaar is an online boutique that lets users shop the items they covet in the magazine's pages. To start, 32 items highlighted in the October issue will be shoppable, as well as another 250+ pieces pulled from past issues and exclusive items such as a limited-edition Alexander Wang bag.
The magazine says that roughly 80 percent of its merchandise is sourced directly from Saks Fifth Avenue, with the rest coming from the designers themselves, about 70 of whom have signed on to participate. A tablet version is set to launch in October, with February marking the debut of an iPhone app.
We're going to continue to do exactly what we're doing, Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey says. "We just want to make shopping easier for our readers. You can now see something and immediately shop from merchandise picked from our informed point of view."
Let the games begin!
