OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Luxury and glamour with sleek sexy details

With a dark and sexy color scheme of blacks, greys and pops of rich scarlet, Monique Lhuillier's Fall 2012 collection was reminiscent of her Fall 2011 collection.

The first looks were dresses and pantsuits in sleek and striking silhouettes. Edgy leather bands at the waist, along with sheer and lace cutout details, gave the pieces a sexy, vixen-esque appeal.

While the suit separates and shift dresses had a sophisticated construction, the leather and lace details, combined with a mix of black and hot red color, lessened the upscale feel. However, the gowns that followed made up for it with one gorgeous design after another cascading down the mirrored runway. Embellished with sequins and insanely intricate beading, they were stunning beyond belief.

The gorgeous gowns brought to mind the genius of Alexander McQueen and Giambattista Valli, with such ornate and intricate attention to detail that several are sure to appear on the red carpet this year.

The finale look, a red lace ball gown with an organza layered skirt, made the audience erupt in a chorus of "ooos and ahhs." Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries gushed to FashionEtc after the show, "I loved the red dress at the end but everyone is going to say that was their favorite. I can't wait to see who wears it to the Oscars. I also loved the black dress with the slit under the bust."
