The color scheme at Monique Lhuillier was dark and sexy with a smattering of embellished gold and rich scarlet hues.
The lace trend, which we've seen across several runways this season, was ever present at Lhuillier. Delicate corseted lace tops paired with her signature trim cigarette trousers, lean pencil skirts, and structured blazers with strong shoulders had a day-to-night appeal.
If daytime was characterized by sleek suit separates and flirty cocktail dresses in shimmer tweed, knit cross-cable cashmere, and taffeta jacquard fabrics, evening was sultry and dramatic with flowing chiffon gowns cascading with feathers and paillettes and adorned with crystal-embellished necklines.
Ostrich feathers in cream, pink, and black were incorporated throughout the collection. On drop-waist tops and cocktail dresses, the feathers ballooned out in a less than flattering style, giving the models a somewhat frumpy and unpolished appearance.
However, on the finale ball gowns, the feathers were fabulously elegant, making them the highlight of the show. The audience "ooohed" as each gown came down the runway. The tulle tiered gowns in deep red, black, and creamy birch were embellished with ostrich-feather skirts and thin velvet-bow belts and will no doubt be on a red carpet very shortly.
