MAC's new makeup gets Vera's stamp of approval. (Note the ladybug on the Pearlmatte Face Powder compact.)
After courting the fashion crowd with its recent Gareth Pugh, Daphne Guinness, and Iris Apfel collaborations, the folks at MAC are ready for a little culture.
For its latest collection, which will be in stores February 9 through March 1, the beauty brand has teamed up with The Vera Company, which carries on the work of the late artist Vera Neumann and is best known in fashion circles for its vintage-looking scarves.
The limited-edition MAC Vera range will reference Neumann's iconic nature-inspired motifs (butterflies, ladybugs, flowers) and playful splashes of color with "shades plucked straight from her most lavish prints."
That translates to Pearlmatte Face Powder compacts (in Sunday Afternoon and Flower Fantasy) paying homage to Neumann's work with ladybug stamps and geometric prints.
Also on offer? Whimsical eye palettes boasting names like Butterfly Party and Strawberry Patch, pearlescent eye liners in shades of teal and violet, shimmering pink and coral Plushgloss lippies, and nail lacquers dubbed Midsummer's Dream (a pink lilac) and Play Day (pale milky coral).
Well, that's our spring beauty look sorted! And don't forget to keep an eye out for Shop MAC, Cook MAC, a new range launching February 9 that's totally made for ladies who lunch.
Whatever will they think of next?
If they need inspiration, here's our wish list of MAC collaborators.
