Shadow boxer: Rachel Roy's new eye makeup collection
She’s already got quite a hold on our closets, and now designer Rachel Roy is dipping her toe in the beauty waters with a gorgeous new palette for your peepers.
“Makeup is such a part of who I am, from the Indian side of me that always loves a smoky eye, to the love of experimenting and trying new things with color,” Roy tells FashionEtc of her new venture.
The eye shadow collection, which will retail for $32 at RachelRoy.com and select Macy’s starting November 14, includes eight shimmering shades and two matte colors in mystical hues like Infinite, a midnight blue; Energy, a bright gold; and Celestial, a deep sparkling purple.
“I love all of the colors in the palette,” she says. “Each color can represent how I am feeling that day and helps me transform from day to night.”
Roy’s own beauty regime is simple. “I use an Estée Lauder moisturizer every morning,” Roy said. “I have very sensitive skin and I find that the Time Zone moisturizer works the best for me.” But that’s not to say she doesn’t like to dial up the drama. “A smoky eye looks prettiest when it pops out against minimal makeup,” she said. “Don’t overdo a heavy eye and a heavy lip. Balance balance!”
Might this be the beginning of a bigger beauty line from Roy? “You never know ... ” she teased.
