Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone and Emma Watson.

From Emma Stone to Charlize Theron, the stars came out in droves last night to celebrate the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California.

The high-energy award show called for a dress code that was more fun than formal, so celebs opted for shorter styles and pops of bright color, with plenty of-the-moment trends represented.

Hollywood's youngest heavy hitters set the style standards high while taking home the bulk of the night's awards.

Emma Watson, who was there to represent the Harry Potter cast, led the pack of stylish young ladies in a Brood Fall 2012 ensemble including a gray racerback top and short skirt with pops of vibrant blue and purple color.

Kristen Stewart, who accepted the Best Kiss Award for the fourth year in a row, rocked her signature hipster-chic style in a fitted metallic GUiSHEM minidress with geometric yellow, purple and black accents, paired with black Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps, though she characteristically changed into sneakers post-red carpet.

Emma Stone, who was honored with the first annual Trailblazer Award, looked divine in a black-and-ivory Martin Grant Fall 2012 look, topped off with matching two-tone black-and-ivory Brian Atwood pumps.

Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Aniston.

Hollywood's more established A-team took notes from the youngsters in some equally short and sexy dress styles.

Charlize Theron was a knockout as usual in a strapless red Lanvin Fall 2012 dress with a peplum detail at the hip, while Mila Kunis rocked a sheer Fendi Pre-Fall 2012 dress, embellished with a splatter of white, black and orange paillettes.

Jessica Biel looked chic and summery in a white textured Chanel Spring 2012 dress with bohemian-esque voluminous long sleeves and Jennifer Aniston, who scored the Best On-Screen Dirtbag Award for her role in Horrible Bosses, flaunted her famous figure in a black leather one-shoulder Valentino LBD paired with black strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Shailene Woodley, Leighton Meester and Elizabeth Banks.

Elizabeth Banks made the biggest style statement of the night in a fashion forward black Elie Saab Fall 2012 one-piece jumpsuit with sexy lace panels.

Young stars Shailene Woodley and Leighton Meester followed suit, working similarly menswear-inspired looks. Woodley, who took home the award for Best Breakthrough Performance, was sophisticated in a black Stella McCartney Fall 2012 ensemble while Meester was low-key in a Christian Cota Spring 2012 white sleeveless jacket and matching white shorts.
