The White House is no stranger to stylish guests, but in celebration of David and Samantha Cameron's visit, the Obamas welcomed not only the British Prime Minister and his sartorially-lauded partner but a smartly dressed crew of big names.
Michelle Obama's silhouette shone in a teal, off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown and Tom Binns necklace, while Samantha Cameron dazzled in a Chantilly lace dress with Swarovski crystal embroidery from Alessandra Rich's Spring 2012 Collection.

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman in her own design and Vogue's Anna Wintour in Chanel Haute Couture.
Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman took her color palette cues from the political wives and stuck to a dusty blue gown from her line, shimmering in a sheer overlay with shiny but understated detailing. An ornate clutch and simple but sparkling jewels made Chapman her own best model for the brand synonymous with embellished, feminine eveningwear. Meanwhile, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour went graphic in a black and white Chanel Haute Couture column.

George Clooney and Elizabeth McGovern enter the White House.
Always the dapper figure in a classic tuxedo, George Clooney, sans Stacey Keibler, took his place alongside the First Lady once inside the dinner, and Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern, joined by her British film director husband, Simon Curtis, attended in a floral patterned black lace gown. Let's hope the President extended his diplomatic hand and angled for Clooney to guest-star in Lady Crawley's water-cooler hit.
