Andrej Pejic: The Androgynous Model Storming Spring's Fashion Campaigns
Fashion's latest "It" girl is, well, a boy.
Striking a victory for androgynous models everywhere, gender-bending male model Andrej Pejic will showcase his long blond hair and feminine good looks in the Spring 2011 campaigns for both Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc by Marc Jacobs, WWD reports.
Though official photos have yet to be released, the head-turning Serbian-Australian looker shot the Marc Jacobs campaign with Juergen Teller in Marrakech alongside look-alike female model Ginta Lapina, according to the paper.
And just last week supermodel Karolina Kurkova had us seeing double after she posted outtakes from the Gaultier shoot that feature her and the 19-year-old Pejic in matching (women's) pleated white trench coats, pouty pink lips and sleek blond(e) strands.
Pejic, who has scored high-profile modeling gigs for French and Italian Vogue in addition to walking the runway in Gaultier's Spring 2011 men's show, follows in the envelope-pushing, is-he-a-she? footsteps of transgender Givenchy model Lea T.
