Tyra Banks Drops Last Name: All Hail Tyra
Supermodel Tyra Banks is giving herself a makeover. Henceforth, she shall be referred to only as “Tyra.”
Like Madonna and Oprah before her, the former Victoria’s Secret model and talk-show host announced that she was ditching her last name during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“We can drop it right now, call me Tyra,” the America's Next Top Model star said. “OK, I have officially dropped the ‘Banks’ from ‘Tyra’ on the Ellen show.”
Banks—er, Tyra—also announced that she was launching typeF.com, a new, customizable beauty and fashion site that will help visitors find their own personal style.
“Beauty is not one size, one shade, one style, one color — YOU are beauty and typeF.com is the beginning of a movement that starts with and for YOU,” Tyra says in a welcome message on the site, which launches March 15.
“It’s a destination that continues my mission to expand the definition of beauty. My goal is for typeF to be THE place where you will find your ultimate style confidence created for you, with you, and by others like you.”
And who knows? Maybe you will even become confident enough to drop your last name too.
