Lady Gaga Takes Over Mugler Runway

Lady Gaga walks the Mugler Fall 2011 runway show in Paris.
Paris has gone gaga for Gaga. The pop star strapped on her heels (platforms, and at first glance they appear to be around eight inches) and strutted down the Mugler runway Wednesday.
If there's anything that can distract the fashion world from scandal and gossip, it's stardom. And the Lady has that in spades. She closed the show in expected fashion: a sheer top over a boned corset, sashaying, growling, and mugging for the camera. (Her other look, a black sheer top over a bra, was reminiscent of the costumes of a certain other unnamed blond star.) A regular runway model she was not. This was pure spectacle, a breaking of the fourth wall of runway shows.
As over the top as it was—and it was—this was exactly what Mugler's creative director Nicola Formichetti must have had in mind. For the first time in ages editors were looking forward to going to the house's show. "On my way to Mugler show. Last time I was this excited for this show was 1996," Elle's Creative Director Joe Zee tweeted.
And the clothes? Well, who can remember the clothes. Gaga was there!
