Designer's these days...

According to Vogue, Valentino Garavani has some choice words about the current fashion industry and how things have changed since he first started back in the '60's.

Although Valentino's haute heyday is ongoing, the Italian designer doesn't quite have the same respect for the industry's newbie designers.

"Few people love and make beautiful clothes, clothes that are soft, smooth and elegant,..And very few designers today design—it's very important to be able to do your own sketch on paper and then explain [your vision] to the fabric cutters. Instead, lots of designers drape—it's the new way."

The designer is currently preparing to open an extensive retrospective exhibition in London with the wedding dress he designed in 1968 for Jackie Kennedy Onassis, who he credits for helping to establish him as a fashion icon, as one of the featured items.
