Sonia Rykiel Announces New Artistic Director, Pulls Out of Paris Fashion Week
Major changes at Sonia Rykiel force the label to pull out of Paris Fashion Week.
And another one bites the dust!
Is it just us or do fashion shows seem to be dropping like flies this fashion week!? First Bill Blass, then Kanye West, and now Sonia Rykiel isn't showing!
Unfortunately, Rykiel has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for quite some time, but her team has remained hopeful and optimistic.
Since the announcement of her disease, however, the company has been undergoing some changes as they search for a new artistic director.
Today, the label announced that Geraldo da Conceicao will be taking over this role. Da Conceicao is currently the womenswear design director at Louis Vuitton and has previously worked under designers including Tom Ford, Alber Elbaz, Yves Saint Laurent, and Stefano Pilati.
Due to the changes, Sonia Rykiel has pulled out of the schedule for Paris Fashion Week.
Now that's a show we are greatly going to miss!
