NYC's Getting the Ultimate Pop Up Shop Showdown
People love pop-up shops and they love a good competition, and this fashion week, the two are coming together for the ultimate shopping showdown.
This September, Mayor Bloomberg and founder Rachel Shechtman will launch Project Pop-Up NYC, a competition for New York City based fashion retailers (both online and offline) to win their own rent-free space for one month with 100% of all sales going toward their business. Lucky winners will also snag a complete PR and marketing package.
The goal of the program is to strengthen New York City's position as a leading city for global fashion retail, a movement initially started by Bloomberg in 2010 with his Fashion.NYC.2020 initiative.
A total of 3 physical retailers and up to 8 online retailers will be selected to compete in the program to ultimately have their company's store hosted by the Chelsea based retailer, STORY. Each company will be selected by a judges panel which includes designer Norma Kamali, Lucky Magazine editor-in-chief, Brandon Holley, Bonobos CEO Andy Dunn, and more. Talk about a tough crowd to please!
The program is open to applicants until July 30th (apply here). Looks like this coming fashion week just got a whole lot more exciting!
