Inez & Vinoodh Unveil Their Fashion Film for Nina Ricci
Some couples struggle to so much as assemble an IKEA table together harmoniously, but Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin—fashion photography's power duo—always manage to work in sync. After releasing a book, Pretty Much Everything, earlier this year, they've worked with a whole array of faces: Arizona Muse in Isabel Marant's spring campaign, Anja Rubik in Balmain's ads, and Lady Gaga, who starred in a series of black-and-white shorts the pair directed. Their latest subject? Raquel Zimmermann, who acts in a fashion film the two just made for Nina Ricci. (The pair previously shot her for the Fall 2011 YSL campaign.)
The video begins with Zimmermann, who recently showed off her hip-hop dance prowess in Lanvin's campaign, going a bit more Martha Graham while wearing an undulating lavender gown and a floral frock from designer Peter Copping's Spring 2012 collection for the house. The unusual stop-motion technique makes for quite the unusual viewing experience.
The film will screen at the house's stores starting today, and come Thursday's fashion show, will be shown to members of the press. Luckily, you don't need a front-row seat at Paris Fashion Week: just watch the clip above for a taste.
