Advanced Style’s Ari Seth Cohen Pays Tribute to Zelda Kaplan
The death of 95-year-old New York City socialite Zelda Kaplan, who passed away moments after collapsing in the front row of designer Joanna Mastroianni's Fall 2012 runway show on February 15, has cast a somber shadow over New York Fashion Week.
A statement obtained by the New York Post confirms that the "deeply missed and always loved" gal-about-town died of natural causes.
Known for her colorful, African-influenced style (her final outfit consisted of oversized sunglasses paired with a red and black woven skirt suit and matching hat) and party-loving joie de vivre, Kaplan was a favorite of Advanced Style blogger Ari Seth Cohen, who shares his memories of working with the stylish senior in an exclusive interview with FashionEtc.

"I met with Zelda to interview her for Advanced Style and the documentary I have been working on," Cohen says.
"She was a true original who had such an amazing spirit and zest for life. She always had such great wisdom to share and felt that the key to living a full life was to be active and most importantly to be interested in the world, not in oneself. I will cherish the short time I had to spend with her and hope to live a life as full and grand as hers."
We should all be so lucky! RIP, Zelda.
