Alessandro Dell'Acqua named creative director of Les Copains.

After losing the rights to his eponymous label in 2009 and parting ways with Brioni two years later, Alessandro Dell'Acqua is poised for a fashion comeback.

The No. 21 founder will return to Milan Fashion Week on February in his new role as creative director for Italian label Les Copains, which specializes in knitwear, Women's Wear Daily reports.

"Their tradition in knitwear is highly significant, and they can do anything with knits," says Dell'Acqua, who is on a renewable two-year contract.

"I’m enthusiastic about this opportunity to experiment and research, and I see that they are very open to new ideas.”

For Les Copains, which has been helmed by Antonio Berardi in the past, the former La Perla designer will be a natural fit with the brand.

"We recognize in the style of Alessandro Dell’Acqua our same vision of elegance, made of innovation and artisanal craft,” founder Mario Bandiera tells WWD.

“At a time in which the market needs reassurance, we believe that the significant and established experience of Alessandro Dell’Acqua can best translate the historical excellence of Les Copains in a contemporary language.”

Here's to a very happy return!
